We are Mapuche - We speak Mapuche !
http://inthenameofthemother.net/
Last year i was in Brussels, taking part in a public hearing in the parliament about the Mapuche`s fight against the Growth and the terrible future their tribe and all indigenous people are facing (most probably everyone else is facing as well, including European countries, so be aware of the extinction plan that seems to be taking part against all humanity...)!!
The oldest Mapuche mothers, like the Mapuche woman leader, Lonko Juana Calfunao were in this hearing, to ask the parliament to express their solidarity, to ask for support from the Europeans, as the 35% of all Chilean export is in Europe. To ask for No intermediates in their businesses to sell straight to the byers. The European parliament SHOULD take responsibility.
Mapuche people ask for International recognition of the rights of everyone, not just the Mapuche. For rational politics. For a political recognition of the indigenous. They ask from the European parliament to become part in all the trials and see how this legal system treats them. They ask all the International institutions & the E.U that Chile will respect their Rights.
Needless to say that the Chilean ambassador didn`t appear in this hearing, there were very few people attending (most probably the subject is not as interesting for Europeans ?? !! ??? ) ...
"We don`t come taking your lands - U DO
We don1t kill or rape you - U DO
We don`t do harm to anyone, anything
Respect us and give us back our land - We Are Rich!"
Mapuche leader
The Mapuche are being stolen all their land, natural sources and their country. There are Economy plans of Chile that want to exploit all natural resources. But Pachamama is sacred to indigenous people.
European companies like Benetton is TOTALLY exploiting the resources there, so much that it is almost a killing to all tribes, due to all the toxicity the big factories leave in nature. In their sacred lands...
Forced to move to a bigger towns, cities, most probably to become beggars or something of the sort. In simple words to be humiliated, as they have no idea how to survive or don`t want to have idea in the city system.Their land, their natural resources and the big corporations are just ravishing the goodies without ANY exchange or sharing ...
They started learning Spanish just to demand their rights, they don`t want to loose their language like many others before them.
Corruption has gotten out of hand in Chile, when the policemen kill a Mapuche is getting awarded. If a policeman robs a bank, he is getting out fast from prison. No justice is present. The 1% is earning more money than the 40% of Chilean people...!
How did they get that far? The constitution was constructed by the military, for example if the indigenous want to sue or stop one of the big companies because they die from the toxicity in the land, there is no trial, no court happening... the government says to find their own way ... they won`t help them.
There are 145 Mapuche leaders in prison, because of their beliefs, 40 of them are accused as criminals!
It is enough to be a Mapuche and for the system, this means that you are a terrorist.
The media is creating this image about the Mapuche, Discrimination, Criminal-isation and Violence, but giving the situation, Mapuche turned to violence too, so now the media is "right" too.
Violence up to shoot firing, getting hurt from bombs, violence at home and repression is almost a policy on behalf of the Chilean government. The Mapuche feel rage, they are not been treated as they should be treated.
*Youth approach:
How do you feel as a Mapuche? (children from 5 - 18 years old answer this question)
Children until 6 years old stated that they love the Mapuche music, jewelry making, clothing, etc. older children said that they like the animals, the land, the crops, nature and being a Mapuche means they have they own Lonkos(elders) and their own land. Means to have standards & work for the community.
All children stated that the language is very important to them, that the language gives them a certain Status, a Position, even older children, said that they feel paralyzed with fear, that they feel they need to go to WAR,they all feel that soon the Mapuche will be exterminated!
They want their land back, the companies to disappear, the catholic church to disappear, they don`t want anymore to be regarded as terrorists, they don`t trust any institution of the Chilean government, hospital, teachers, churches etc. they feel they can only rely on themselves.
Instead they want their rules, their own religion, their institutions,a life as it fits Them. They want peace, a safe and harmonious environment to live in as a community.
The elder women of Mapuche, pleading for a real hearing as they shall never stop demanding their rights,
Juana says "Im not a citizen of Chile, i am a Mapuche, therefore i don`t have rights,we started learning Spanish in order to take our rights back.. we are Mapuche, we speak Mapuche....they will not stop us...if i die, someone else will take over..." in anguish and continues "our medicines was always keeping us healthy, now the new medicines kills us..."
The only thing the Mapuche have left is their body, they fight with that... they do hunger strikes for over 100 days, a group of young people did a 26 days hunger strike and they were put in prison. They asking for their RIGHTS.
