The Essential Guidebook for Younger Warrior Women in the 21st Century

Chapter 1: Traps of Society

“Whatever you choose, however many roads you travel, I hope that you choose not to be a lady. I hope you will find some way to break the rules and make a little trouble out there.

And I also hope that you will choose to make some of that trouble on behalf of women.” ~ Nora Ephron ~

When we were younger, we always wanted an old wise woman to come along, brush off the dirt after a great fall and tell us the secrets to getting back on the horse so the next time we fell, we would be smarter, more powerful, more graceful…in our own way, that is.

We are the women who don`t bite the bait of the system, and we sure as hell recognize that great potential in you.  One day, you will save a life, a few actually, but you are still learning to accept yourself wholly as you are. One day, you won’t compare yourself to them. You will be too busy preparing a lecture, packing a single bag to tour across Nepal, living with indigenous tribes, or performing open heart surgery.

One day, you will be that woman but you haven’t met her yet.

You have neither learned how to embrace your nature nor your destiny but the day will come when shrinking to fit another will be too painful and you will be forced to break out of your own shell.

Fortunately for you, we are here to speed you along your way, so your falls are more infrequent and not as harsh as ours have been.

We wrote this for you, but the secret is that we wish we had someone write this for us: a cheat sheet on how to embrace your nature today so you can spend the rest of your life doing what the world needs you to do – be the best at being you.  Don’t even bother trying to be anyone else.  You will fail miserably.

We are the ones who don’t fall into the career trap although we have quite a number of interests of our own and will take on all challenges in the pursuit of our soul’s mission.

We are neither here to gain wealth nor retain knowledge.  We are here to give it to you, so you can use this age old wisdom that we have collected in our 76 accumulated years and spread as much light as you can before your final rest.

We are also the few and far between who have kept our female curves at the expense of being labelled sexy and gorgeous, by society that is.  We are the ones who look in the mirror and giggle at the poor plucking job we did two weeks before or look at our legs and notice a strip of hair still remaining since we were too busy thinking of 10,000 other projects we would rather be doing than to keep up with routine maintenance.

We are the women who have not fallen into consumer society.  We are not perfect wives and our men love us for that. We don’t wear pink. Although we LOVE PINK.

We don’t own Gucci bags, but if we did, they would probably be sitting in the bathroom holding rolls of toilet paper, that`s because we consciously choose to spend our money in conscious companies. We are not nice but we are great.

We don’t buy Estee Lauder products, but we will spend hours trying to track down Aztec mud to make our own facemasks.  We don’t make the bed when we leave in the morning but we give the greatest cuddles on earth.

We don’t trust western medicine and vaccines are not for our children. We don’t blindly believe what teachers, preachers, parents, and society tell us. We question Authority. We don’t fall into the trap of becoming somebody else.

Our burden is to make sure all who follow in our footsteps listen to their own divine truth.
